The Richi cluster is a group of 30 or so star systems. Following the fall of the old human empire and the closing of the travel gate network, more than 800 years ago, those systems had to fend for themselves.
It took most of them a couple centuries just to re-discover the starship spike-drive system, used before the travel gates, and re-establish communications between stars.
500 years ago, local hegemons expanded their empires and wars broke out for a century until clear victors emerged and peace was restored to the cluster.
The campaign starts in the territory of the Green Sun Empire, one of those hegemon, whose control-zone spans 4 star systems.
The Richi cluster is comprised of more than 30 systems, all of them are described and come with at last one complete adventure each and additional adventure seeds for you to develop.
The campaign is both designed in the spirit of sandbox RPG’s and also a good introduction to sandbox RPG’s. Because there is a consequent introduction story arc that plays like a linear RPG and which leads gradually to sandbox gameplay at its end. That arc can introduce players used to linear gameplay to the sandbox concepts. And it can also give seasoned sandbox groups the opportunity to know each other and elaborate the party’s relationships before going in the deep end.
While there are numerous localized adventures or adventure mini-series, there are also macro stories that progress behind the scenes and by which the environment, and thus the players or their endeavors will inevitably be influenced.
The setup is designed for 2-8 players, with semi-permanent NPC companions, featuring story arcs of their own, for small groups if they so choose. Those characters are also opportunities to let new players join a group that has already started playing.
While the original campaign was played using SWN’s rules, it is easily adaptable to the system you use. The main value being the stories, maps and illustrations.
To help you get the mood going, many places and NPC encounters have illustrations.
Every planet with developed adventures has a quality planetary map with the different locations marked for you to use as digital handout to your players. When needed, regional maps also exist.
Every place where combat is supposed to occur has a battle map. These are hand-made in high resolution. When needed, there are some extras png’s for "cone of fire" for fixed positions, area of effect, etc.
AI image generation is used in the illustrations workflow, as well as 2d and 3d editing. All texts, maps and battle maps are handcrafted.
As you can imagine, publishing this campaign is a long term project. This is why it will be released in chapters. The first arc, which leads from linear to sandbox gameplay, is in the finishing stage. That arc contains 5 distinct adventures that are articulated together, but only two of those are mandatory for plot progression.
Those adventures combined contains enough material for between 10 to 15 play sessions.
The planned schedule is to release one or two such arcs a year.
